The title of the post is clearly a rhetorical question, who wouldn’t want a full size version of one of the most popular Nitro RC Trucks of all time. Until recently I had resigned myself to the fact that the concept was something that would remain in my head but it turns out that there is in fact a full scale Traxxas T-Maxx monster truck. Check it out in some car crushing action below!
I like the sound of the 1500HP this brute has on tap but I get the feeling it might be a little outside my budget so for now I’ll be sticking to the likes of the Traxxas T-Maxx 3.3 Nitro RC Truck. I can always dream though!
Okay, so this new show called Weaponizers looks like it may be worth a watch! Basically it’s a bunch of guys who take regular vehicles, stick a bunch of weapons and remote control gear on them, then do battle. How can it fail! So if you fancy a little remote control car building why not watch this series for a few tips then start modifying your car!
The show premiers on May 11th on Discovery. Check out the clip below for an idea of what to expect.
A while back I mentioned that some clever people had put together a setup that allowed them to control their RC car with an Apple iPhone. If a recent patent application is anything to go by then it looks like Sony have the same aspirations for their portable games console, the Sony PSP.
The idea is that the RC car would carry a video camera to provide a live feed to the PSP display. It’s not clear how the control of the car would take place but it is possible that it would make use of the built-in WiFi on the PSP and would therefore require a car (or at least a new receiver) that could make use of the WiFi signals.
Will it ever make it to market? Maybe not but I will be keeping my eyes open for it in case.
As crazy as it might sound, there are people out there using electric RC trucks and cars as bizarre musical instruments! How, you might ask? Well take this youtube video of some RC enthusiasts who have combined their electric RC car with water filled bottles to play the famous Super Mario Brothers theme tune. You couldn’t make this stuff up!
The time and effort that must have been put into getting both the timing between and the pitch of each bottle correct is quite simply astounding! We see a couple trial runs early on but what the video doesn’t show us is the chaos that would have resulted when the car went slightly off course and set the entire collection of bottles tumbling in a domino like fashion. Come on, you know it must have happened. Crazy bottle hoarding, Italian plumber loving RC car fans, I salute you!
