Whilst many people involved in the gas powered RC trucks hobby would consider it a legitimate sport I doubt even the most die-hard gas RC truck fans would expect to see their appearance in the Olympic games! Not to mention the fact that gas powered RC racing isn’t the most athletic or energetic of sports, lets face it anybody can pick up a controller and have go no matter how overweight or unfit. Their electric brethren did have a part to play in the Olympic games in Beijing however, just not as a sport in their own right.
Eric Seals of the Detroit Free Press spotted two of these red electric RC trucks driving around the athletics field in the Bird’s Nest and was as confused as you probably are right now. It turns out they were being used to ferry the hammer and javelins back to their starting positions after they’d been thrown. How lazy is that?
