Well, no actually, not yet at least but it has already happened with an electric RC truck so I’m sure it won’t be long before someone follows that up with an iPhone controlled gas powered RC truck. The process involved in getting commands from the iPhone to the RC truck in question is a little on the elaborate side and takes in the iPhone, the RC truck and a WiFi enabled laptop.
Not exactly a nice lightweight portable control system but it’s a good start. The control system makes use of both multi-touch and the accelerometers on the iPhone. See the whole thing in action in the following video…
